This weekend I'm going to my first baby shower. I have to say that freaks me out, both because one of my best friends is going to be a father, and because I'm apparently of an age where my friends are becoming parents. I don't know how much awwww-ing I'm going to be able to do when the day comes... But nonetheless, I wanted to make something special. It was a bit of a challenge coming up with an idea, because most of the baby gifts I could think of were decorative, and they're not going to have a baby room right away.
I settled on a stuffed toy. A few years ago my boyfriend gave me this book for valentine's day after I swooned at its adorableness in Borders, and he also made one of the animals in it, which was about the greatest thing ever:
I used the same pattern because it's one of the largest ones in the book, but I modified it into a bunny:
I also looked up the artist of the pattern, and she's just FANTASTIC! Here are two of my favorites:
If you're into that sort of thing, she has a blog and an etsy shop, and definitely check out her Flickr sets, where all the little guys have adorable names that make them even better.
